THE PRAYERS

Quick Links - CD Discography | Biogs

The Prayers were formed around the songwriting partnership of Hugh McLachlan (vocals) and Colin Murray (Guitars) playing their first gig in October 1987. The other original members are Andy Muirry (drums) and John Connor (bass). Bob Gregor replaced John on bass in 1991.
The Prayers played regularly in Scotland in 1988 before appearances becoming intermittent with Colin spending a lot of time in America. (The Prayers played in Providence, Rhode Island in June 1990.)

The Prayers only managed to release 5 songs in their 4 years or so their existence but these 5 songs, a fitting testimony. If you are unfamiliar with The Prayers check out the reviews and samples.

* Apologies to John Connor for omitting his credit on the CD release.

Article from Do It For Fun

"Egg Records have a powerful argument behind them in the heavenly shape of The Prayers, whose fragmented beauty sites somewhere along the Pale Saints/Lush/My Bloody Valentine axis" - Stephen Dalton, NME.

"The Prayers excellent debut single "Sister Goodbye", guitars that knock youre head off, with the awesome urgency and noisey melody of "Teenage Roit" - Stewart Mabburt, The List

"if you want reference points - Sonic Youth in their dreamier moments via Cocteau Twins' grace via Scars "Adultery" via Dinosaur Jnr. Well, that's the way I see it, but its not fair to compare this band to anyone! - That Essence Rare fanzine
